Swine Flu Update & Precautions

  • 2009/10 Swine Flu Update - County Vaccination Program - H1N1 Vaccines To Be Made Available To All District Children in Voluntary Program
With the beginning of the school year, some parents are thinking beyond classes and school supplies and into the flu season, especially Swine Flu. School districts are thinking along that line, as well. In fact, the 21 school districts in Macomb County are working closely with the Macomb County Health Department, which plans to provide vaccinations for H1N1/ Swine Flu on a voluntary basis.

Beginning sometime in the fall, Lakeview Public Schools will make a vaccination process available to students enrolled in pre-school through 12th grade. A permission slip will be required for the vaccination and parents will need to accompany preschool and elementary children during the process. As information becomes available, we will provide you with the necessary forms and the specific vaccination schedule.

In the meantime, if you have specific questions or concerns, please contact your family physician or the Macomb County Health Department at 586.466.7923 or the website at www.macombcountymi.gov/publichealth.

You can help minimize the possibility of transmitting this or any other virus by taking the simple measures of getting enough sleep, drinking plenty of water, washing hands frequently, not sharing water bottles or utensils and reducing contact with people who are sick. If you or your children are sick, please stay home, the best place to recover from any illness.
